04.1 · The financial and operational core.
Finance and Administration
It is the department that holds everything else up, and the only one whose work is noticed only when it fails. It runs from recording an invoice to deciding whether a new market opens — and both depend on the same figure being right.
A quién sirve
The whole group
A single administration for the five companies and the three divisions. It is what lets a small house spend its time on its own work rather than on keeping its books.
What it does
Accounting and finance
Recording to international standards, financial statements, asset management, tax and treasury. Plus investment analysis, which is where it stops being administration and starts being decision-making.
Management control
Each house's performance indicators and the analysis of its results. It is what allows a division to be held to the same standard as a company, even though it files no accounts of its own.
Expansion
New-market study, entry strategies and project viability. It works with Calaa Mind, which is who measures the market.
Investor relations
Communication, meetings and sourcing opportunities. It is the department that talks to whoever puts up the money.
When one house in the group builds for another, the decision is taken by looking at what suits the whole rather than what suits each. It is the difference between a group and a portfolio of companies sharing a shareholder: here there are not two parties negotiating, there is one that decides.
How you notice it is centralised
It does not decide strategy: it underpins it with numbers. And it does not replace each house's own management — each has its own profit and loss and answers for it.
