05.3 · And which part of this is genuinely measurable.
Sustainability
It is the section where it is easiest to write well and say nothing. So here there is only what this group specifically can affect — which is less than usually appears on a page like this, and is worth more for it.
What does depend on us
Extending a vehicle's life
A well-maintained car lasts longer, and maintaining it well depends on knowing when. It is the most measurable thing in this whole section: if telemetry warns before something fails, the effect can be counted in repairs avoided.
A used car sold as used instead of scrapped
A large part of a vehicle's footprint is in manufacturing it. A second-hand market with better information extends the fleet's useful life, and that weighs more than almost any other measure.
And infrastructure that does not grow by default
A group that shares a structure consumes less than one where every piece builds its own. It is modest and it is true.
That this group reduces the automotive sector's emissions. It does not: it measures them better, and helps decisions be taken with more information. Claiming the effect of a whole industry is exactly the kind of statement that makes nobody believe the rest of the page.
